I believe in animal souls and tree feelings and doggie kisses.
I believe in free speech, free education, free healthcare, and free love.
I believe in second chances. And thirds. And fourths.
I believe in Loyalty and Risk and Kindness and Hospitality and Peace and Manners and Humor and Silence.
I believe in birthday cake. I believe in breakfast and coffee and wine and leftovers. I believe in belly laughs and camping with cats and weed and nudity.
I believe in LOVE.
My enemies are:
I war against illiteracy and self-righteousness and abuse and greed, especially and most importantly when it’s my own.
I believe in a lack of moderation.
I believe in the spirit of the law.
I believe in exceptions.
I believe in the benefit of the doubt.
If I do harm, may it be in a misguided and ill-advised attempt at love.
If I cause suffering, may it be my own from caring too much.
While we won’t always agree on politics or religion, may we always act from a place of love, because love covers a multitude of sins.
So fill your life with kindness and pour it out onto every living human, plant and creature you encounter.
Rend your hearts, pilgrims. Flood your communities with compassion.
How can you get very far if you don’t know who you are?
How can you do what you ought if you don’t know what you’ve got?
And if you don’t know which to do of all the things in front of you,
Then what you’ll have when you are through is just a mess without a clue
Of all the best that can come true, if you know what and which and who.
